Make a movie party

We understand you love movies and the exciting spirit of a fun movie party. Almost everyone has a memory or two; sitting in a dark movie theater or a movie night party, crunching on delicious popcorn while their favorite movie plays on a big screen giving them that larger than life sensation. It’s a great way to unwind and bond with family and friends.

So, we’ve put together the information you need to keep making such memories with those you love, at home. Just keep an open mind and you’ll find that there are some great ideas on how to make a movie party as fun as it sounds.

Why have a movie party?

There are many exciting reasons you might need to have a movie party. Perhaps you’re brainstorming and hoping to find some information for movie themed birthday party ideas or requirements for a movie night party.

Maybe you’re a film major and you find yourself needing marathon sessions where you and your colleagues soak up information after information for that next project while entertaining yourselves. Maybe you just want the simple, open warmth of cozying up with your son, daughter or partner while re-watching an old home movie.

Steps to having the best movie party ever!

You will find it handy to have an open check list or a note detailing ideas and information on all these steps. Cross out items you’ve covered to close the list.

If you live alone or are planning a movie-styled birthday party for kids, find a friend or two who share your love and taste for movies and are willing to help out by suggesting a few party ideas, stocking the food and snack bar and hooking up decorations. Seriously, friends with information are stars!

 Choose your guests

Except you’re planning a solo movie night party at home, you’ll find that having useful information on the right movie is crucial for a fun movie night. So, think carefully before sending open invitations to friends.

And remember, invitations should be fun and creative with enough useful information to make your proposed guests eager to show up. For example, you could print all the information concerning your movie party on paper cut like movie tickets. Go all out and find ways to make them personalized for each guest. They will love it. If little kids are coming, promise them loads of popcorn and candy.

Just like a birthday party, find a theme

As is common with birthday party ideas, you will find that having a kick-ass theme might the most memorable thing about your party. Set the bar for the next party by picking a great theme. Find ways to be unique with your movie party. Here are some great suggestions.

Movie-themed movie night: You can style it to match the movies that will be played during the movie party using available information. If it’s a kid’s birthday party, open up the possibility of them dressing up as movie characters and their favorite tv star. Be sure to include this information when sending out the open invites.

Movie Set Party: Another exciting way to go is to have the party styled like a movie set with real film equipment and decorations. This is more engaging than most other kids’ party ideas and the Young Film Academy provides such services in an exciting way. Visit their website to find all the information you need to arrange this.

Movie theater party: Here’s an idea, if you find your guest list long enough, you could rent out a theater in your local cinema for a movie night. While most people might find this expensive, it provides the most personalized, authentic movie night experience without the hassles associated with it. You can have popcorn, candy and drinks brought to you right in your seats and even arrange for intermissions. Please, check with your local open cinemas (see if they are open to such ideas) to get more information on making this work.

Choose the movie

Clearly, this is tricky as you will have to find a movie or two that everybody present will love. It mustn’t be their favorite movie but it has to be really interesting, so they can enjoy the party. If you find this difficult you can open the floor to suggestions and information from your family and guests well before the start of the movie night. You could also open the web for information.

For movie ideas and how to pick, find online film sources that have information on movies that are more likely to engage viewers. Note that it also has to be age appropriate if children will be present. Information on movies’ ratings should be made open in invites.

During the movie: As you munch on popcorn, watch out for any sign that your family or friends are bored of the party. Find a way to keep them interested in your movie night. Maybe stop the movie for a while, see if you can get them to trade information on what they’ve watched and keep the discussion open. Also, play a game between movies.

After the movie: Hopefully, things go well and the movie comes to an end. You can find time to play one game or two or cut the cake if it’s a movie birthday party. You might want to give your guests some party favors filled with candy and star shaped cookies as they leave. You can give them some information about the next movie night if you’re open to the idea of hosting another.

Things you’ll require for your movie night party

Apart from projectors, find good speakers and screens to enrich the movie night experience. A popcorn machine and a makeshift popcorn stand might also come in handy. Again, if you’re new to throwing a movie party, use an information checklist and read the boxes the equipment come in to work them properly.

Not just popcorn and fizzy drinks

Stock up the snack bar. There should be enough food for everyone on movie night. It’s good to have information on guests that have allergies or special needs. For example, find less sugary snack options for those who are diabetic.

Be sure to also have party favors ready for when your guests leave. Suitable snacks include plain popcorn, flavored popcorn, candy and sweet drinks to wash it down.

Other ideas to consider include trying to find goodies with wrappers that don’t make too much noise when you pop them open, this preserves the air of silence during the movie.

Look up information about how to make some themed snacks e.g. the ecto slime popcorn if your party will be showing Ghostbusters.

Place the snacks on wide, sturdy table that little children can’t topple over. You’ll find yourself bummed out if all popcorn get strewn all over the place just because of a shaky table.

Location, location, location!

Find the best spot for your movie party. If it’s a little group such as a family watching a home movie on movie night, the living room or open lawn will do just fine. For a bigger movie night party, a more open place, such as the yard, under the open sky and stars might be better fit. Your guests could bring sleeping bags and get comfy. Open spaces are also better for games. Or find information about your open local cinemas to see if they’re open to rent -a- theater services. Whatever you want is okay, just use all the information open to you.

Wherever you ‘pitch’ your movie tent, add fantastic decorations to capture that movie night party essence perfectly. Party ideas for this include cutting out old, open paper boxes and making star and string confetti, posters of popcorn, movie reels, and sign.

Duration and time

Just like a birthday party, a movie party can be fun at any time of the day. So while you might find that a movie night is the norm, be open to the idea of having the gathering earlier in the day if you can find a convenient time. Also, decide from the get go how long the movie night will last. Most people find that 4 to 6 hours seems like the best duration but you’re free to decide. A movie birthday party for kids should open and end sooner than one for adults especially if there are games to be played afterwards. Information about the duration and time of the party should be made open in the invitations.

Safety

Having a fun movie night party doesn’t mean putting the health of you and your loved ones at risk. You don’t need to open up your home to too many guests at this time. Also, find and read up new information on the current COVID 19 pandemic as you want to keep your family and guests safe. You know, you may find the idea of smaller movie nights and birthday parties far more intimate and better for bonding?

Other activities

A movie night party should include a few games. These could be based on information from movies seen and they add lots of fun when everyone in the room plays something. Find information on easy game ideas like trivial pursuit, charades, name that character and modify them to suit your movie nights.

With all the information open to you, you’ll find one or two suggestions that’ll be well useful as you make a movie party. And what’s more, friends and family will always be open to movie nights. Everyone you invite to your movie night party really has fun and will be open to it going on forever.

The Young Film Academy is open to helping you make the movie night party a great success with useful tools and information.
