Learn how to make your own family’s blockbuster movies in this practical club!
This club is for families – minimum one adult, one child (no max). Making a movie at home, or on holiday, is a brilliant way for family members to spend time together, learn new skills and make movies which can be shared with relatives and friends across the world, and enjoyed for years to come.
Most families have all the equipment they need already – a camera device (smartphone, tablet, DSLR camera or video camera) and editing device (laptop of desktop computer with a basic editing programme).
In this practical club, families join via video link and our filmmaking pros guide you through the whole process of making a movie, from planning a storyline, composing shots into a sequence and editing these together with sound effects, music and titles. By the end of the club, every family has made their own movie using their own kit and learned skills they can use again and again for years to come.
For the club sessions, at least one adult must participate, plus kids. An unlimited number of family members are able to participate in the movie itself. We recommend this club for families with kids aged 4-9, although all ages are welcome! 🙂
– is a practical activity all the family (and pets!) can engage in

Most families have all the equipment they need already:

– any laptop or desktop computer with editing software on it (iMovie, Adobe Rush, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro etc )
OPTIONAL: any additional filmmaking equipment you may have that could be used
Big thanks to Richard for teaching us so much. We had a hugely enjoyable and unforgettable time and have a film to amuse the whole family!
All the best with many thanks again.
Making a movie with our kids is now the highlight of our year! We joined this club with YFA because the idea of making a family movie was superfun, but we didn’t know where to begin. During the sessions, lovely Richard held our hand through each of the parts of the filmmaking process and by the end, everyone (including the cat!) wanted to get in on the action. We learned so many tips and tricks and now we make 2 or 3 movies a year using kit we already had. We send links to the whole family and they give so much joy. Best new skill we’ve learned in years – highly recommended!
This is to thank you for all the brilliant work you did on Spaced Out. Sascha and I greatly enjoyed the course sessions and the production process.
We were very satisfied with the end result and we are both very pleased to have had such an excellent guide to help us achieve it.
All the best,
